
Southcraig Forestry Services is a Partnership formed in 1998 specialising in arboriculture; the partners are Dick Price and Tom Calderwood.
Dick studied at Newton Rigg Forestry College to National Diploma in Forestry, a course of work starting in 1969 and completed in 1980. Prior to self employment he managed 10000 Hectares of trees and a large contracting department for a national forestry company. He is a member of the International Society of Arboriculture allowing him to keep up to date with research and latest methodology.
Tom studied at Colleges in Inverness and England. He holds a Royal Forestry Society Arboricultural Certificate. He was also employed as a Forestry/Arboricultural Manager until becoming self employed.
The partners additionally, hold all required practical certificates. To help maintain our very high safety record, the company recently successfully completed a thorough safety assessment, carried out by Hanson Hatton, arboricultural safety consultants. We carry £2m of Public Liability cover with an option to convert to £5m where required, we also hold £10m of Employers Liability insurance.
We are principle Arboricultural advisers to 3 national building companies, we provide BS 5837:2005 reports and negotiate with planners for each of the companies. We provide the same service for a number of Architects and Property Consultants. Our reports have been used as evidence during Planning Enquiries.
Our work takes us throughout Scotland, based in Ayrshire the majority of our work is in the Central Belt we also recently worked in Aberdeen, the Cowal Peninsular and the Southwest.
Our company’s greatest strength is the combination of practical arboriculture and consultancy each strand constantly informing and improving the other.
