Professional Career Development Seminar
WITH A FOCUS ON OPPORTUNITIES FOR INDIAN DOCTORS IN UK
BACKGROUND
We are a group of NRI (Non Resident Indian) doctors, all educated from Medical Colleges in and around Nagpur and now based in UK, US, Australia or the Gulf. We regularly get emails and personal requests from juniors and colleagues asking us about career planning and potential of various specialties in India & abroad. We are also asked regularly about short/long term Observerships, fellowships, training or job opportunities abroad and how to acquire them.
However these are major issues and cannot be dealt with in a few lines in an e-mail. Hence we decided to set up a group of young, enthusiastic, successful and dynamic doctors who would be part of a faculty and give talks on various issues to help juniors & colleagues choose an appropriate path for themselves. We came up with an exciting schedule of various talks in the form of a one and a half day seminar in Nagpur. We strongly feel that young doctors from Vidharbha region are enthusiastic and hard working. However with regards to Professional development and Opportunities of training in India & abroad, they do not get the exposure or advice that doctors from places like Mumbai & Delhi get. Helping them gives us an opportunity to show our gratitude to our alma mater.
The first day of this seminar is devoted to Professional development and the second day is a focus on opportunities available in UK and how to go about it. In future, we intend to keep the focus changing from UK to USA to Australia and then maybe the Gulf Countries.
The faculty on “Focus on UK” comprises only of Doctors who have had at least 5 years experience in UK and have had formal training and a degree in UK. The topics have been allocated according to the area of expertise of each Faculty member.
Disclaimer
Although we feel that this seminar will help people tremendously in their quest for professional development & further training, it does not promise or guarantee any training post, fellowship or job offer. Further, we explicitly make it clear that we are not encouraging anybody to set their sights on training and jobs in UK but this seminar is for those who want to consider it themselves or have already made up their mind to get training abroad but do not have the necessary information or professional guidance to help them attain their goal. The Organizers reserve the right to change the faculty or the program even at the last minute in case of any exceptional circumstances.
