The traditional values of high quality work completed on schedule and to budget are central to the philosophy of H N Edwards & Partners Ltd.
The company has over 65 years of building contracting experience and offers a comprehensive construction service from its headquarters at Basingstoke and office at Witney.
HNE operates a management structure, which builds on the company’s traditional qualities enabling a quick response to customers needs and maintaining close communications between office and site.
The scope of contracts undertaken is comprehensive, including work for government agencies, local authorities, housing associations, commercial and private organisations, providing a variety of services at competitive prices.
HNE carries out a variety of procurement routes ie. Traditional single stage tendering, 2-stage tendering, project management fee, framework/partnering arrangements and negotiated tenders. Design and build represents approximately 40% of the company’s turnover.
On refurbishment projects the company recognises the customer’s need to maintain operations during alterations and improvement works. Repeat business is sufficient testimony by customers of the benefit to them of the special HNE service.
HNE recognise that the principles of Partnering is fundamental to our company’s strategic development plans. It is always our intention to be completely transparent when discussing mutual objectives, to summarise our approach “Work with the Client” as opposed to “Working for the Client”. The partnership strategy provides benefits such as improved designs, turnover security, time quality and cost improvements.
H N Edwards & Partners Ltd operate a Quality Management System, accredited by the British Standards Institute to BS EN ISO 9001:94.
In 1992 our management system was externally approved to BS 5750 Part 1. (triennial reviewed) and in November 1994 was revised to BS EN ISO 9001:94. In conjunction with the British Standards Institute we are currently transferring our system to meet the new international management standard; ISO 9001:2000.
Our Management System also incorporates our Health & Safety System, which is subject to both internal review/audit by our Technical Services Department and external review/audit by the British Standards Institute.
Our scope of registration includes:
“The management of design and build contracts. The construction, improvement and repair of both residential and non-residential buildings for private and public organisations. This includes new build, refurbishment, building maintenance and specialist electrical work”.
The company has come a long way from its initial beginnings in 1934 when Mr H N Edwards built three bungalows at Sherborne St John, Hampshire. HNE has remained a Basingstoke base firm though acquired in 1996 by GGS Holdings Ltd a holding company with a consolidated turnover in excess of £100m.
