Calendars

Wire binding lends itself extremely well to the production of calendars. The most popular form is the standard A4 calendar with thumb-cut and hanger. This is normally bound on the short edge but many are also bound on the long edge. A3 calendars can also be accommodated and because of the size these are nearly always bound on the short edge. The standard wire and hanger for calendars is white.

Another popular use for wire binding is the tent calendar. This consists of a three scored card to form a 'tent' when bound with the calendar. The centre score at the base of the card triangle allows the desk calendar to be folded almost flat to enable distribution to take place more efficiently. This type of desk top calendar is normally A5 in size.

The quantity for binding of calendars is normally greater than that of books and we have the facility to bind many thousands with our usual quick turnaround. The busiest time of year is the two to three months leading up to Christmas. As our production facilities at this time of year frequently reach capacity, it is recommended that any calendar requirements are planned well in advance.

Production normally takes place using the customers printed stock, and in the case of tent calendars, the supply of the tent cards. These should be scored three times and supplied flat, with the calendars themselves supplied in separate packaging. It is imperative that the tent cards are scored squarely, as any failure in the binding edges meeting exactly flush will result in the inability to secure an effective bind.

If complete production is required from printing to binding this can also be accommodated using customers camera ready artwork or file.

ENCAPSULATION also plays a useful part in the production of calendars. Calendar cards encapsulated with products and services detailed on the reverse are a useful marketing tool.

Of course A4 encapsulated calendars are extremely useful for marking important dates. This can be done, for example, with a chinagraph pencil. If a mistake is made, simply rub it out and start again!
